Arthur Wayne Carey Stittville/Marcy
On April 17, 2017, A. Wayne Carey joined his beloved wife, a guardian angel, to watch over their family. Wayne, was the first child of Arthur and Frances Graves Carey born on October 30, 1939 in Rome, NY. They resided in Coonrod, NY before settling in Marcy. Wayne was educated in Whitesboro Schools. He began his career with New York State at Marcy State Hospital in April 1959, working in the kitchen. He later moved to the grounds department and retired as grounds supervisor in January 1995 from Central NY Psychiatric Center.
On May 13, 1961, Wayne married the love of his life, Marcia Morton. He lost his forever love on August 31, 2012. They celebrated 51 years of marriage. The two enjoyed life; making memories, spending time with family and friends and traveling. Summers were spent camping and boating with their children, families and friends. The two enjoyed traveling to Vegas, Pennsylvania, Florida, across country and time at the St. Lawrence River at Wayne's sister's camp and at Cedar Point State Park. Miss Molly, their beloved 13 year old Shihtzu, will miss her daddy, as you can just imagine.
Wayne was a member of the Stittville Fire Department, holding the position of Lieutenant for several years, fire fighter and most currently, Fire Police Member, a member of the Marcy Community Church and CSEA. He also took pride in his memberships and offices held with the fire police organizations at local and state levels. The friendships made and the stories created from the numerous convention trips with the Oneida County Volunteer Fire Police Association were cherished by both Wayne and Marcia.
