Carol A. Wheeler, 75, of Whitesboro, passed away August 16, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare.
She was born March 19, 1937, in Utica, a daughter of James and Maude Burns Fitzgerald. Carol was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. She married Robert B. Wheeler in October 1956 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica. Mrs. Wheeler was a Dental Assistant in the office of Dr. Robert Danner, DDS, Utica, for 38 years. A loving and attentive wife, mother and grandmother Carol was dedicated to her family. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother; and enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's sports activities. She was a founding member of the former St. Anne's Church in Whitesboro, where she was active in its' Women's Club. She was a member of the Home Bureau, and enjoyed bowling, golf, and snowmobiling. In her younger years Carol enjoyed playing Bingo, more recently she enjoyed trips to the Casino.
She is survived by her husband Bob of Whitesboro; her son Bob Wheeler and his children Haley and Jackson of Manlius; her daughter Susan Ciancio and her children Vanessa, Isabella and Noah of Clinton; a sister-in-law Thelma Fitzgerald of Utica; cousins; and several nieces and nephews from the Fitzgerald and Wheeler families; and many dear friends, including her special friends, Phyllis, Mary, Donna, Margo and Jody. She was predeceased by a brother, James Fitzgerald; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Art Groat; and by her daughter-in-law, Tracey Wheeler.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, 16 Park Ave., Whitesboro. The family will receive family and friends at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment in Calvary Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in care of Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Whitesboro.
